OPENING DAY FOR DES MOINES WOMEN’S CLUB
Join us as we begin another Club year with our
annual tea and opening day program. This year’s program features
the music of Gina Gedler. Fresh off a very successful run in the Souvenir
musical at the Stoner Theater, Gina will bring her singing talents to
our opening day festivities. She has a long background of performing at
many Des Moines area venues. Known for her versatility, Gina will present
her program of well known songs from many sources. Don't miss this wonderful
show and beginning of our new Club year activities. See you there!

GWEN ZNEROLD SEMINAR
Again, Gwen will present an in-depth and entertaining
presentation filled with fascinating historical facts and special tidbits
that only she can bring to the stage. This year’s presentation is
titled “The Life and Times of Wallis, Duchess of Windsor.”
As always, the committee will assemble an array of Silent Auction items
on which you are invited to bid. Guests are most welcome, for reservations

Do you have a friend that you think would be
interested in Des Moines Women’s Club? Our Prospective Member’s
Coffee is an ideal opportunity to introduce these friends to the club
and Hoyt Sherman Place. We will share a bit of history about the club
and our magnificent home here at Hoyt Sherman. Guests will enjoy coffee
and a light snack and an opportunity to visit with other club members.

GIGANTIC FLEA MARKET
Treasures galore will fill Hoyt Sherman Place
as the Women’s Club invites all its members to bring in their unwanted
and gently used household items to sell at our annual flea market. In
the past, this event was part of our Annual Bazaar. This year’s
event will also feature our famous bean soup mix.

2nd ANNUAL BASKET AUCTION
After seeing the wonderful creativity and ingenuity
of our members last year, we are excited to see what you come up with
this time! Most of the baskets had a "theme" of some sort,
and many would have made wonderful hostess gifts for those of us who need
them during the holiday season. Start collecting your ideas and
basket items, because November will be here before we are ready!

102nd ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION
This 102nd annual event will showcase the work
of professional and non-professional Central Iowa artists against the
beauty of the Hoyt Sherman Place Art Galleries. The 102nd Exhibition is
open to the public and there is no admission charge. Selected works of
art will be available for purchase.

MYSTERY DINNER THEATER
Bring your investigative skills, your appetite,
and be prepared to sleuth your way through the evening at our mystery/gourmet
dinner theater. You'll be kept on the edge of your seat as you enjoy a
gourmet dinner and dessert while you watch for anything suspicious, interrogate
the suspects and help solve the crime.

BLOOMIN’ PLANT SALE
We will fill your order for your spring planters
with fresh blooming geraniums, impatiens, petunias, etc. Order forms will
be distributed in late February/March and pick up will be scheduled for
early May of 2010. Watch the newsletter or listen for announcements next

MAY DAY
Los Guitarras de Mexico first came together
in 1985. The quartet – R.J. Hernandez, Jorge Morales, Juan Estrada
and Joe Hernandez – has performed in venues large and small throughout
the country, celebrating the folk-music traditions of the Mexico City
area to which the members trace their heritage. Join them in celebrating
song as a universal language.

Club activity will occur if needed.
CLUB TRIPS UNLIMITED: This
committee plans one day, two-three day, or extended trips throughout the
United States and abroad. We welcome non-Club members on these trips and
urge anyone who wishes to join us to call the Club office or email betts@hoytsherman.org.
YOUNKERS COMMUNUITY DAY COUPON EVENTS:
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14th, 2009 and SPRING 2010
The Club keeps the $5.00 that you pay for the
coupon booklet and you will get much more for your money when you use
the coupons at any Younkers store on November 14. Both you and the Club
will benefit from your participation. Coupon booklets will be sold on
Club days prior to November 14 and prior to the Spring date, not yet set.
